Sant Josep de sa Talaia (or Sant Jose or San Josep) is about a 10 to 15 minute drive to Ibiza Town and Playa den Bossa and is the gateway to the beaches on the west coast, and for the best sunset views on the island. From San Josep you'll have easy access to the small coves such as Cala Codolar, Cala Tarida, Cala Moli, Calo d'en Real, Cala Vadella, Cala Carbo, Cala d'hort, Es Cubells, Porroig, Cala Jondal, and Cala Codolar. Two of the best beaches at Es Cavalet and Ses Salines or also within a 15 to 20 minute drive. The town's full names comes from the tallest mountain on the island Sa Talaia at 475m high. The town of San Josep at first view doesn't look too inspiring to be totally honest – there are way prettier towns and villages in Ibiza but from a practical perspective there is a supermarket (closed on a Sunday) and there are some great restaurants to sample… but there are many restaurants to treat yourself to within a 15 minute drive of San Josep. KM5 is a restaurant that turns in to a club, as does Cova Santa which is in a similar location on the road from San Josep to Ibiza Town. For more of a beach club vibe head to Blue Marlin at Cala Jondal which is open every day but their big night of the week is on a Sunday. For something a little more relaxed head to Cala Bassa Beach Club, or any of the many small beachfront restaurants dotted along the small beaches and coves of the west coast….go for a relaxed fresh fish lunch and stay for an unforgettable sunset.
